Fortified wine produced in the mountainsides along the Douro Valley selected to age in wooden vats. It shows maturity in color, concentration in flavors, and evolution in the aroma. The aromas combine the fruitiness of young wines with the velvety, woody flavors of older wines. It is soft, light, and well-balanced.
Very silky, with a light acidity that keeps the extreme sweetness in check. Hints of raisins and chocolate, some sweet coffee, dried apricots and caramel. Cinnamon pastry. Very light hints of candied ginger and After Eight in the finish.
Pleasant aromas of candied walnuts, candied fruits, cinnamon, and vanilla-wood tones are upfront on the nose and carry through to the medium-bodied palate. The mouthfeel is plush yet not overdone, with ample acidity and well-integrated alcohol offering balance. The evolving finish first showcases the fruity richness, followed by notes of mushroom, roasted nuts and then a woody spice.
